Our Work

Yanina Cuentas, originally hailing from Peru and a Connecticut resident for over three decades, embodies the spirit of empowerment and community support. In 2010, fueled by a passion to uplift Hispanic women facing various societal hurdles including gender bias, cultural barriers, immigration challenges, and language disparities, founded Mujer Hispana Connecticut.

Mujer Hispana Connecticut, operates solely on the dedication of volunteers, eschewing financial gain for the greater mission of empowering women.

Each year, Mujer Hispana Connecticut recognizes the contributions of approximately a dozen Hispanic women nominated for their outstanding work across communities throughout the state. Through this recognition, our group proudly celebrates the strength and determination of women who surpass obstacles, serving as inspirations for themselves, their families, and the broader community.

Yanina's leadership underscores the importance of acknowledging and amplifying the voices and achievements of Hispanic women, fostering a culture of support and empowerment for generations to come.
